Welcome
Welcome to GAMMA, the Gay and Married Men's Association, a support group for men who are or have been involved in a long-term heterosexual relationship, and who are coming to terms with their sexual attraction to other men.
Here's a short video of introduction and orientation from GAMMA President Peter Kadwell.
Our Meeting on Wednesday 7th March
Living in Two Worlds
This is how many men have described their feelings when they have begun to explore their sexuality, perhaps for the first time.
The speaker is Ross Feenan, a psychologist well known for dealing with the after-effects of trauma in people's lives. Ross has also run 'coming out' groups for ACON.
What's New
Mardi Gras 2012
Some GAMMA men have not had the chance to investigate what's on at Mardi Gras time in Sydney.
The parade and party on the final Saturday (March 3rd), are the high profile highlights, but most of February has events including the Mardi Gras Film Festival sponsored by Queer Screen, which has a range of films from serious docos to frothy comedies: theatre shows including 'Hats Off', a fundraiser for acon and the Bobby Goldsmith Foundation featuring big show business names, and even debates. And let's not forget the ever-popular Fair Day, a good introduction to community activities.
There's too much to mention in detail here, so see what you might like at www.mardigras.org.au.
ACON workshops
ACON runs workshops throughout the year on various topics of interest to gay men, and some are starting soon.
For more information you can check their newly redesigned and easy to use workshop page: www.acon.org.au/services/workshops or email James Gray at ACON for information. JGray@acon.org.au
Book Launch
In February, Justice Michael Kirby is launching a book, 'Five Uneasy Pieces', a collection of essays on what the Bible says about homosexuality.
GAMMA men are welcome to the launch. The subject of the book may interest those who are struggling against a repressive faith/Christian background. For those who haven't had a chance to hear Michael Kirby before, he is an impressive and engaging speaker.
Peter Kirkwood will be videoing the launch for the Eureka Street online magazine.
Launch details: Place: Paddington Uniting Church 395 Oxford Street Date: Wednesday 22 February 2012 Time: 6:00 to 8:00pm (6:30pm start) Replies: ATF Press 08 8271 3488 or hdregan@atf.org.au.
